Fifth District News
Stop Elder Financial Abuse
To help older Americans and their caregivers protect themselves or their loved ones from financial abuse, the American Bankers Association is offering the tips found here.
Although Fifth District has not been affected, a text message card scam is circulating in our area. The fraudulent text message appears to be from your bank and is currently coming from 888-877-8880. The text message informs you that your debit card is locked and instructs you to contact a toll free number. When you call the number, you are asked for the last 4 digits of your card number, 3-digit security code (CVV) and PIN. Please do not respond to this text message.
If you have responded to the text message scam and you have provided your information, please contact Fifth District at 504-363-6513 during normal business hours. If after-hours, you may suspend your card within Mobile Banking and Online Banking or contact 866-546-8273 to close your card. Please remember that Fifth District Savings Bank and our Fraud Center will never ask you to provide your PIN or 3-digit security code (CVV) over the phone, text or email.
