Customer Privacy Policy

Fifth District is committed to delivering quality products and services and to ensuring that customer information remains confidential. In support of this commitment, we have in place safeguards to ensure confidentiality of customer information.

Today almost all information is gathered, stored and transferred electronically. As a result, there is greater emphasis on protecting customer privacy. We have collected all of our practices and procedures on confidentiality into one "Customer Privacy Policy." The principles stated in this policy have been implemented on all levels of our institution. If you would like information on How to Protect Your Privacy from "Identity Theft" visit the FTC website here.

1. Customer Expectations - Privacy of Information
Trust, Privacy and Confidentiality are the foundation of our commitment in satisfying customer expectations about how we use the information we obtain.

2. Collection, Retention and Use of Customer Information
We collect, retain, and use information about you in order to (1) allow us to conduct our business with you, (2) satisfy legal reporting requirements, (3) administer our internal operations, and (4) provide other products and services that we believe you may find of value.

If we collect information about you, we will do so only for a specific business purpose. If you request, we will tell you why we are collecting the information. For example, we require information about your credit history in order to determine whether you qualify for a home loan. We ask for your social security number when we open a new savings account because we are required to do so by the Internal Revenue Service. We ask for other personal identifying information so that we can protect your account from fraud.

3. Accuracy of Information
Maintaining accuracy of your personal information is important. We have procedures to help assure that your personal information is accurate, current, and complete. We also have procedures to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner, including processes to update information or remove outdated information. If you discover any information we have about you that is incorrect, please let us know in person or by calling 504-362-7544.

4. Employee Access to Information is Limited
We have policies and procedures which limit access to your personal information to those employees with specific business reasons for knowing such information. We educate our employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy, and we have appropriate policies to enforce employee responsibilities regarding the privacy of customer information.

5. Protection of Information via Established Security Procedures
We maintain security safeguards and procedures designed to prevent unauthorized access to customer information. Password and access codes are used to prevent revealing sensitive customer information to inappropriate and unauthorized sources.

6. Disclosure of Account Information is Restricted
We do not reveal information about your accounts or other personally identifiable data to parties outside our organization except for a bone fide business reason supported by a confidentiality agreement, or under the following circumstances:

  1. you request or authorize disclosure;
  2. the information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by you;
  3. the information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar information reporting agency; or
  4. the disclosure is authorized or required by law.

7. Maintaining Your Privacy When We Do Business Outside Our Organization
In order to provide you with products and services you use and want, it is sometimes necessary to provide personally identifiable information about you to a party outside our organization. Some examples are when we hire a vendor to prepare your account statement or process your checks. When we work with outside vendors, we require them by contract to safeguard your personal and confidential information and to abide by applicable law.

8. Marketing of Customer Information
We do not share or sell your personal information with any source for the purpose of marketing products we do not offer. Please see section 11 for additional details about digital marketing.

Because we are committed to customer confidentiality, complaints relating to customer privacy should be forwarded to Fifth District's Compliance Officer, 4000 General DeGaulle Drive, New Orleans, LA 70114 or phone (504) 362-7544.
